God has a message for you today:  It’s time to lose some weight.  There is no way around it.  You have some weight that needs to come off, and so do I.

David joins us and acknowledges this weight loss need in Psalm 38:4 when he laments, “My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear.”

The weight of guilt can easily build up on our shoulders.  At the end of a day it is easy to think of all that we should have gotten done which we didn’t, or a few things we did which we shouldn’t have.  The same can be true at the end of the week, month, or year.  In fact, the guilt and shame of our failures and faults can build up from all of those days, weeks, months, and years, until we feel like David did in this Psalm:  overwhelmed with shame, burdened with guilt, and desperate for a sense of self worth.

Fortunately, our Savior is in the weight loss business.  In an act more amazing than any liposuction, he took every sin that you have ever committed with Him to the cross.  There he suffered under the weight of that sin and guilt, being punished in your place.  And the good news?  The weight is now gone!  Your sins are paid for in full.  You are forgiven in full – yes, even for the failures of yesterday and today.  He promises not to pile your sins upon you, and he wants you to feel light at heart in the light of his love.

And when you feel that weight of guilt coming back on?  Go right back to the cross.  See your sins paid for and your salvation sealed.  Let the heaviness of your guilt slide off on the cross, and enjoy the freedom of his forgiveness.  That’s a weight loss plan designed by God and guaranteed to work.

Loosing weight and feeling great with you,
