Devotion ArchiveWeek of April 5, 2010What a week for weather this has been in Northern Virginia! After an oppressive winter, the sun is shining. The weather calls for temperatures in the 80s today. Beautiful! On the first Easter, the Son came out. The Son of God – Jesus. He came out of the tomb. He rose from the dead. But a disciple named Thomas couldn’t see the Son through the clouds, so to speak. He didn’t think that the news of Jesus’ resurrection could be true. He didn’t think that something so good could come out of a situation that seemed so cloudy and bad. Fortunately, the Son shone on him. Jesus broke through his clouds of doom and doubt and directed him to delve his digits (fingers) into his hands and side. But then he said these striking words, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29) You know who he is talking about, don’t you? You! And me! We haven’t seen him with our physical eyes, but he wants us to know and believe that he is right here. Even when the grey clouds of this world – the clouds of doubt, depression, and despair – seem to be swirling around us and impairing the vision of our faith. Jesus is still with you. He is still there. The Son is still shining on you with blessings for you. Isn’t it a beautiful day? Seeing the Son with you, Pastor Jon Bergemann
