How strong are you?  Do you feel yourself getting stronger in this phase of your life, or gradually weaker?  Do you look back at old pictures of yourself and say, “Wow, I can’t believe how weak I was then and strong I am now?” or do you say “Wow, I can’t believe how strong I was then and weak I am now?”

We all lose strength eventually.  Our earthly bodies slowly (or sometimes quickly) break down.  But in the midst of life’s deterioration, listen closely to this promise from God: “He (Jesus) will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 1:8)

Your body might be full of fortitude or flab.  Your stature might be rock hard or wrinkly.  Your biceps might be bulging or itty-bitty.  But you remain strong.

Why?  Because the strongest power in creation – God Himself – has claimed you as His son or daughter.  His almighty power and limitless love keep watch over you in every season of life.  And He actually sends the Holy Spirit to live in you through the powerful words of Scripture.

It doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside or even feel like on the inside.  Your strength comes from Him who will present you as blameless – washed completely clean of every sin – on the day you join Him in heaven.

If you are feeling weak today – physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually – God’s advice to you is not to “buck up” or “be strong” or “toughen up”.  Rather, His advice and call to you is to look outside of yourself and to His perfect strength and love.  He, not your strength, will sustain you to the end.  Listen to what He has to say to you in His Word.  With Him, you are strong and blameless indeed.

Finding my strength in Christ alone, just like you,
